Boggy Acceleration

Hey guys im new to the forum and i just bought a 1987 camaro with a 350 in it. it starts right up and runs well but when you step on the gas the car doesnt accelerate it kinda bogs and wants to die unless you give it tons of gas to keep it running. Any suggestions? i just replaced the MAF because it wouldnt idle with it plugged in. now that its replaced it idles fine.

And im pretty sure its not tps because the car goes crazy when you disconnect it.

thanks,
Max

Re: Boggy Acceleration

Hey Max, do you have any codes? Have you done a fuel pressure test? Get a paperclip and insert it into your diagnostic port located under the dash on the drivers side. It should be a black box with about twelve holes in the front. Next get a paperclip and shape it into a U. After that insert it into the two top right holes on that box. Those are pins A and B. Next , turn your key but dont start it.Your check engine light should flash several times. It will flash once, pause and then flash twice. That is code 12. That is also normal, it will do this three times. After that it will flash any stored codes in your ecm. For example flash once , pause and then three flashes is a code thirteen. do that first. You could possibly have a bad fuel injector, that is very common on these cars and will not set any codes! You will have to ohm each injector with a multimeter and look for any bad injectors. That happened to me , the car was eating gas like crazy and had no power. Also it would die at a stop sign unless i kept my foot on the floor. LOL. Check for codes first and then get back to me. I will show you how to ohm the injectors.

Re: Boggy Acceleration

Ok i have another problem car was running terrible and it felt like the clutch was gone, so i pulled the tranny did a clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing. Now it shifts and idles fine but when its in gear no matter how much gas and clutch i give it, it is really bogging.
Any ideas it happened all of a sudden and i dont know why.
CEL shut off. And the car revs to the moon when its in neutral, but wont do anything when in any gear.
thanks

Not sure about the later problem, but the earlier problem could be the auto trans tuning in the ECM.
