Check Engine Flashing Need help

I have an 86 iroc 305 TPI, i was driving and all of the sudden the check engine light was flashing, it was almost like it would pulse a few times, stop for a second or two and then continue, as that happend the car began to not run so good, it felt like it was getting fuel and then cutting out and it would continue to do that back and fourth. Eairlier in the day Before this happend i check to see if there were any codes and it flashed 12 3 times so there was no problems, but after this happened i try to check the codes and i get nothing, no flashing at all. My theory is that it has something to do with the ecm or the chip inside, any thoughts would be great thanks.

Re: Check Engine Flashing Need help

Usually when it flashes there is a misfire. That would explain the way it was running.

Re: Check Engine Flashing Need help

yea its actually my 86 but yea i dont think it can detect misfires either , i just need to know if it is indeed the ecm, i dont wanna buy one and turns out not to be the problem, yea and it wont start, just cranks but it will start with some starter fluid but run with the light flashing and runs like garbage.
