my 91 camaro with a 3.1 starts to run like crap once it gets to operating temp. so I got the code read and its 43 which is ESC (electronic spark control) and I read that the 91's didn't have ESC's sooo what do I do?

Re: 3.1 v6 runs rough after getting to operating temp.

They have an ESC system. If the SES also lights up at this time then power will be down as a set amount of spark advance is pulled when that code is active.

The knock filter is in the ECM and most likely not the problem.

The knock sensor is on the block in front of the starter. It may be that it is no longer connected (single wire connector). Or the sensor is bad. The sensor should measure out at about 3.9K ohms between the block and the center terminal.
