1985 trans am 305 tpi have to pump the gas to start it

i have a 1985 trans am with a 305 tpi.i recenlty changed the fuel pump,fuel filter,fuel injectors,spark plugs and wires.but i still have to pump the gas like its carborated.i know i shouldnt have to pump the gas with it being fuel injection.can anybody help me on this??????oh yea i have also put a new distributor and roter button in too.

On the TPI cars, while cranking and the gas pedal is pressed down, it cuts the 8 injectors off to prevent flooding.

You could have a leaky cold start injector, which with the other 8 injectors firing might cause flooding.

Now, if it takes the same amount of cranks and pedal pumping to start each time it might be a bad cold start injector or Cold Start switch.

Cold start injector is on the drivers side of the intake. It is an odd looking injector that has a metal line going to the back of the fuel rail.

the Switch is located on the front of the intake manifold underneath the throttlebody. It has a connector that looks like the same one on the Injectors.

thanks.i knew it had the cold start injector but to be honest i never thought about it causeing my problem.which one would you guys change first.the injector or the switch?

hey i changed the cold stat injector and that was the problem.im now loking to port my plenum.anybody have any ideas?should i port the 305 or should i just get a 350 block and bore it instead
