ok si just did this. unpluged the two connectors exposing 4 slots on the coil. when i tested it on the coil into the slot i got nothing. when i tested the connecter that has the metal prongs i got - 13. am i doing something wrong here

Re: Car Wont start??????

for the ohm tests or the volt test? if you got 13v from the pink and black wire on the plug that connects to the coil, thats right. it means your coil is getting power.

Re: Car Wont start??????

all the ohm tests are done on the coil itself. 2 of the test should read infinite, and one should be zero or close to it. to figure out how your volt meter reads infinite, just turn it on to the ohm setting. without touching the leads to anything it will read infinite and display some sort of symbol for it.

Re: Car Wont start??????

the attached pic shows where youll place the leads for the ohm tests. #1 & #3 should read infinate, #2 should be zero.

one of those plugs should have a 12-14 volts with the key on. if neither one does, then the problem is with the wiring to the coil.

Re: Car Wont start??????

for the ohm test, you had the volt meter on the ohm setting and not the volt setting right?

Re: Car Wont start??????

and if youre not getting any power to the coil, theres a problem with the wiring that could have fried the coil.

yes it was on the ohm setting with the key out. turned on the meter and set to 200k. put red lead in the little slot and the black lead to a ground. it didnt change a thing

then your coil is defiantly fried. and im pretty sure you have a wiring issue as well. unfortunately im not much help with wiring problems unless im actually hands on.

to check the ohms, turn it on and grab both leads with your hands, it should read something.

Re: Car Wont start??????

if it failed the ohm test the coil is fried. one of the wires could have shorted and fried it. either way youll need to replace it, and find why its not getting power
