Car running rich
Just wondering what would cause and immense amount of smokie/stanky exhaust to be pouring out of the tailpipes. It's a 89 5.7 mostly stock except for no cat, flowmaster cat back, msd 6a, new plugs and wires, set to 6*btc.
Does this have to do with fuel pressure adjustment, there not being a cat, or does timing need to be bumped???
Can the timing even be bumped up or down with an ESC equipped car?
I would love to see what kind of air fuel ratio I have going on, but I'm not sure how to find this out!
Thanks for any and all suggestions/tips.

Re: Car running rich
I forgot to add it has 85000 on the ticker, and that the exhaust smell is extremely overtaking while in the passenger compartment. When the previous owner chopped the cat out, the smog tube that runs to the cat was left hanging unsealed, could this be a problem? Does not having a cat confuse the ECM? Their is a Hypertech chip in it now and I'm guessing it was a regular off the shelf flash.
