I was driving my 87 iroc 305 tpi home from the shop it was running pretty good for a tranny that they said needed to be rebuilt, however there is no reverse.

Anyway Im almost home.....oh i forgot it was really loud as there is a big ole hole just in front of the converter.

Anyway im almost home and it just quits.....just stops running and when i go to turn it over theres not even a click or any noise whatso ever...just like it would be if there was no battery.

what do you guys think it could be?

 

Did you check to make sure the battery cables didnt come loose?

 

yeah I did just at the terminal though.....I ll recheck those wires in the morning.

would not the alt. be able to keep it running though as I said it was running then just died..if the battery cable came loose the alt would or should keep it running though right?

 

Not necesarliy. The Camaro I have use to be my brothers and one night just a few days after he bought the car, we were going down a brick road and the car kept dieing. Every 30 feet or so the car would just shut off. We popped the hood and found the battery cable loose. Even my other brothers 95 Silverado will not run with the battery disconnected. As soon as you loosen the cable, it shuts off.

Dont forget to check your frame ground as well. It is just as important as the power cable.

 

Alright everythings seems fine....the only thing that works is the headlights......still no power to the rest of the car not even the heater or radio.

Now I have some oil on the ground (I moved the car) Had the guys change it while it was at the shop..

can a coil or sumthing like that cause no power????

 

alright I was told to check fuses...I found one right close to the battery but where is the other one located?
