Good idea to go with LS2?

I have been throwing the idea around to go with a Iron block ls2 motor making it into a 383 or a 402. Anyone have any experience with the ls2 motors in our cars fitment wise (i.e. headers, intake, ecm, tuning, ...)

Thanks for the incite,
Chas

incite? what, a riot? Here's my lack of insight..How do you get to be a senior member without knowing to post this in the engine swap forum of TGO?
There are no iron block LS2s, the only way to have that is to put the #243 heads on an LQ9, then change the cam. If you add a stroker crank, you get 402 cubes. If you also bore it, you get a 408. All your other answers are in the stickies over in the LTx and LSx sub-forum. This is why it's there.

Wow i have no idea what i was thinking...I have been looking at too many different forums. I was for some reason thinking that the LQ9 motor and ls2 were the same but its the ls1 motor and lq9 that are the same except block material.

My spelling on the other hand needs a little work..the best part is that spell check didn't catch it...

My bad ill post in swap section.

Thanks for the help haha

Nope, you're having an off day. No big deal. LS1 is 3.898" bore, LQ9 is 4.000" bore. LS2 is 4.000" bore. 1 & 2 are aluminum blocks. 9 is iron. LQ4 is LQ9 but dished pistons. Shall I go on? :-)
