tranny ?'s
the 700r4 has two diff. bellhousings from what I can see. one looks like it has a mountain peak btween the top two bolts and the other has a square looking plate where the two top bolts are. I found me a 700r4 that looks to have been rebuilt. the owner said that she bought it for her husbands truck V8 and he got rid of the truck some time ago before installing and now they want it out of their way $250-300. I want to get it. Is there anything that I should be on the look out for? hey for $200-250 if it lasts 4-6mo. I got my money out of it. by then maybe I can get it rebuilt right.

Re: tranny ?'s
your tranny cooler is in the radiator. flush it with brake clean and compressed air and connect the external cooler in series.

Re: tranny ?'s
you know what ? I was wondering yesterday while I was taking the heater core out "why was there an attachment on my radiator that didn't have anything hooked to it I figured that somebody broke something off that I was going to have to fix or maybe that it was the petcock to drain the radiator. it was on the passen. side under the big radiator hose. If that was one of the hose connections where is the other?

Re: tranny ?'s
I know that this may be a bad question but I have to ask. On the tranny I bought (i did not know to ask) but the spedo is elect it has a two wire electrical connection the spedo that is connected to the tranny in the car is mechanical is there a way to cross it over? or do I need a different tranny?
ohh the old one that is on the car has a square four prong elect. connection that hooks to the tranny and connected to that same harness is the two wire connection that goes to nowhere. it looks like it would go to the spedo but like I said the one on the car has mechanical spedo and nowhere for these wires to hook up. help me please I will not even attempt to connect this tranny without knowing what to do correctly.
Do I change rear housings? is there a way to cross them over? HELP!!!

Re: tranny ?'s
The 4 -plug connector is for the converter lockup. It probably has 3 wires. It goes in the driver side, forward of the governor, above the pan, behind the shift pass-thru.

Re: tranny ?'s
o.k thank you now attached to that same harness is a two wire plug that goes as far as I see to nowhere. my ? is did these cars come equipped with the option that they can use either the mechanical spedo's and the digital readout transmissions for the spedometer. The tranny i just bought has the elect. output for the spedo. is there a way for me to convert. the bad one is mech. output the new one is elect. output.
like a dummy i didn't look to see which one i needed I just got excited about the low mileage.
nevermind I take out the VSS and connect the cable. thanks (jamesc)
