Trying to find my engine

I have a 350 block that I cannot seem to reference the suffix code.

V0512DJS

I know its a Flint Engine around May 12th...just cannot find the DJS portion. I was told it was out of a 95 Impala SS...but I knew that wasn't the case just by looking at it.

I have verified the number numerous times...including removing the alternator.

Thanks

Those codes don't matter for anything except a perfect restoration.

I was trying to find out because I was told it came out of a 96 Impala SS but I know that is not the case.

Re: Trying to find my engine

Is it outright NOT an LTx block? Or is it just a matter of aluminum versus iron heads?
While the Impala SSes were all built with iron heads, that doesn't mean a previous owner couldn't've swapped to the aluminum versions used in F-cars and 'vettes.
If it's outright NOT an LTx block, then look down behinf the driver side head and read the casting number, that'll help us identify it.

Re: Trying to find my engine

E052 5.7 LG1 SG1 and the big numeral 8. I am guessing it was made May 5 of 1992. The thing that is funny...is that the suffix code of DJS I cannot reference anywhere. Regardless...I was mainly as I said before trying to know so that when I buy parts at the parts store I will know what to tell them. So, for now, I am telling them its a 92 Camaro 5.7 liter V8. Sounds good to me.

Why would you tell them that if it's an LT1?

That's the casting number. That is the first time you've provided it. The other numbers are not the casting numbers.

That isn't an LT1. If it came out of a '96 Impala SS, the factory didn't put it in there.

It's a generic 350 block. From Mortec.com:
14093638...350...87-95...2 or 4...Roller or flat tappet cam, one-piece rear seal

I have one in Berlinetta #1. It started off life as a ZZ3 crate motor. I only got the shortblock, but added LB9 roller lifter parts to it.

I bartered another one away last fall that came out of a '92 Suburban TBI. It had flat tappet lifters/cam.

What parts are you expecting to need to buy?
