i just finished the t5 swap on my car today and i go to start it up to run through all the gears and i got nothing no lights no key ding nothing. Now it has a brand new battery just bought today, everything for the swap is done except the backup lights are not wired and the center console is off so the window and mirror switch is not hooked up but other than that everything is done. It has a brand new starter on it also and the only thing i could think of is mabey i had the skinny wire on the wrong terminal but i tried both and still nothing. but could someone tell me if the skinny wire goes on the terminal closest or futher away from the + cable on the starter solenoid. the car is a 1988 firebird trans am with a 305tpi. please come through for me thirdgen thanks.

 

Your starter should have 2 terminals, one is the main power and should be on the main part of the starter. The other is the solenoid terminal and should have the purple starter wire hooked up to it. Did you check to make sure you didnt have any blown fuses? Or make sure the battery cables where hooked up nice and tight?

 

the switch wire goes to the terminal closest to the block just below and to the right of the battery cable if you look at the starter from the front of the car also did you bypass the neutral safty switch or install a clutch activated switch?

 

No fuses are blown and it is a clutch activated switch any other ideas

 

are your starter wires correct....mine did this..ended up being fusible link...check thosefirst

 

i checked the fusible link at the battery to the alternator and it looks like it might be burnt up is this the one that would keep everything from working i mean lights key ding everything or is the one at the starter the one i should check and can u tell me how to test and repair one thanks

 

first check it with a test light on both sides of fusible links...

 

probally not the one to the alternator..you made sure the smaller wire were on the correct side of the starter....im thinking thats your ...if you only connect the big wire youll have same syptoms
