2.8 to 305

Hi guys, I have an 88 camaro where I have taken out a 2.8. I want to install a 305 (i have the matching transmission 700r). The question i have is what all modifications am i gonna have to make to get the 305 to be properly installed. I know to move the motor mounts, I was told something about the crossmembers but not real clear on what to do with them. Any detailed information would sure be helpful thanks

Oh also, the fuel pump in the gastank, from the 2.8...will it still suck fuel? I have the fuel pump on the engine of the 305. I was told to ask about that
many thanks fellow camaro lovers

Re: 2.8 to 305

First off, What did the 305 come out of? If it was another thirdgen, what year was it? Is it TPI, Carb, TBI?

Re: 2.8 to 305

i did the same swap this winter, i just cant get my 305 going but only had to change the motor mounts (reverse the bolts when you put them in so you dont have to drop teh control arms) and the brake line (to behind k member i was able to just reroute mine, trans bolted right up to the old 200c mounting locations but i switched to a t5 but it was not as hard as i was expecting

for the fuel pump my car is an 84 so i didnt have to worry about that but my old 89 (too much body rot) but just bypass the pump (at the tank) as it will flow too much for a carbed application and just use the one on the motor imo
