First post... can you guys help me out? Idle issues.
Hello all, after wanting a camaro for about 10 years, I've finally bought one, a 57,000 original miles '89 Iroc Convertible, so it's the 305 Automatic. I love the car, but I've got an issue that pops up quite a bit as it turns out.
When the car has been running for 10-15 minutes, at normal operating temperature, the car surges like crazy at idle, and idles high when cold. Also, at temp, cruise control surges running downhill, and occasionally the SES light will light with a code 33. I've searched and searched, and although many people have this problem, not many people end up sharing what the cause was. I've checked the IAC valve and checked/set my TPS, both are good. I've also checked the resistance on my fuel injectors, which is where I think the problem is, the readings I got were from 7.2 to 18 hot, with average around 11 ohms. This morning I checked the worst of the bunch, and it was at 5.8 ohms. Obviously I don't want to spend almost $200 for nothing, in all of your expert opinions, should replacing my FI's solve my problem. I plan on changing the EGR while I'm in there too.
Thanks for your feedback and I look forward to getting my car up and running well and enjoying what an F-body should be!

a low ohm reading indicates a shorted injector.

Thanks for the reply! I know my injectors are bad, so they will be replaced. Do you think that is the cause of my idle issues? The wierd thing about it is that it's only at temp that it happens.

yes, heat always makes it worse.

For an update, I replaced the CTS today, since I'm just waiting for my fuel injectors to ship. I'm really nervous that the new fuel injectors aren't going to fix my problems. FYI, Southbay Fuel Injectors are great to work with, plus, they're site sponsors.
