dipstick help
okay everyone i know in person who i have told this to just kinda laughed at me like i was stupid but yes it happend and it was like this when i bought the project car, (85 trans am) the dipstick housing for the oil broke in half. (well rusted) the top half with the bolt and the actualy dipstick came out. the bottom half of the housing is still in the block. how do i go about changing it. some people have told me just pull the old one out and i tried that. and it didnt come out? maybe im not buff enough idk. lol please help(: so that i may once again be able to check my oil.
Re: dipstick help
If there is some sticking up from the block still try a pair of channel locks on it twisting it back and fourth. Be careful not to crush it or itll break again and you've got problems
There is an O-ring on the tube to seal which sometimes gets stuck over the years
You may have to pull the pass exhaust manifold to get better access

Re: dipstick help
yeah there is alot sticking from the block i took my hand down it and follwed it down and its like curves all the way down there. so i think i am goona have to take my headers off to get it outa there. i had plans on chaning the headers any ways cuz im pretty sure they leak. i gave it a good 25 minutes of pulling and cranking with those stupid channel locks and didnt even budge it.
