What does a damper spring do
hey guys
im looking into getting either some brodixIK180s or Edelbrock performer RPM
heads(60899), and the only real difference between them besides the minor differences in flow is that the Brodix come with damper springs and the eddys dont,
is this a big deal, what exactly do they do
thanks

Didn't say that, but you asked what they were for. Most cars got on fine without them. This wouldn't be the deciding factor on heads for me personally.

I'd go Brodix. What are the flow numbers of both?

I don't know why Summit's description says the Edelbrock heads don't have damper springs. I've never seen any single valve spring engine, other than a Briggs & Stratton, that didn't have damper springs.
"Single spring" means it has the main wire coil and a damper inside. "Dual spring" means there is an external wire coil with another wire coil inside it wound in the opposite direction - the two springs dampen out the resonance produced by the other one.

Re: What does a damper spring do
