rebuild a chevy small block350 or buy another better tuned and do a swap?

I have a what it seems to be a chevy350 truck mid70's in my new 83 Camaro, should i rebuild or buy another? i always loved cars but im a beginner when it really comes right down to it, i know how to check/change oils, sparks, filters, shocks, springs, brakes, regular maintenance stuff no prob but when it gets more mechanical i have little bit of knowledge but wouldn't mind learning, if anything i would love to learn i just need a hand -_-, my question is, Should i rebuild this 350 to better my NEED FOR SPEED and at same time learn, or should i just get a better tune engine and do a swap. ill be learning there too i never done swaps. complete rebuild? or just change few stuff like cams, intakes, headers, oh and trans i got a 3speed

If I were you I'd base my decision on how much time and money I had for the project. If this isn't your daily driver and you can put in some extra cash for some better than stock engine components then I'd go for the rebuild. You might find yourself looking for a 2nt pair of hands and searching online for information but when its done you will appreciate what you have more than before with the added knowledge of your car inside and out. My Bird has become my project car and I love working on it as much as I love driving it. It has become my project car and there is nothing wrong with having it sit in the garage dismantled.

On the other hand if you don't have another car, dont have the time or attention to put into a project you might be better off saving up for the swap. Its quick, easy and gets you on the road to have fun. You may appreciate how much you paid for the new engine and what it is by description, how it performs. Project cars sometimes can take longer than expected. Maybe you didn't have the money yet for the parts you needed, maybe you dont have the time to work on it. Things come up and put projects to a stop. I had what seemed like 40+ different repairs to do on my bird. Life took turns and I didn't really touch it in the cold seasons. This stretched the repairs to a little less than a year. A swap could have taken a week or less.

I have more time for this car than sudden large amounts of cash. I've almost completed just about any repair that it would need that I can imagine. In the end the choice to rebuild is always going to be the route for me. I'll always be proud of the knowledge I've gained and can use it to help others. There is just nothing like doing it yourself and appreciating it inside and out, when the opportunity falls into place.
