1991 RS Camaro Problems ...please help
I have a 91 camaro it has a 73' 350 4 bolt main block with H.O 305 heads and the rest of the engine from a 91 camaro.....The problems im having are when you crank the car from a cold start it idles up and down and almost dies but mostly idles very low, also when i accelerate it is kind of jumpy and it sounds like it backfires a little, also if im driving and quickly give it gas the car sounds like it cuts out then backfires and goes, also it will occasionally start running poorly and it is almost as if the car bogs down and revs kind of slow and is barely able to gain any speed when you are in drive and accelerate ....but when park or nuetral the car will rev fine....i need some suggestions of what it might be? if its a sensor or what? ...also after driving for a while the SES light will come on Please help thanks

Get a manual or search on here about reading codes and see what it says. Would also help to know what induction system you're working with; carb, TBI, TPI? Was it ever running OK, and this stuff started happening, or did you get the car this way? We need lots more clues. Try the Tech/general engine or electronics board and search under SES codes

Reading the codes is real easy to do yourself. Check this out
https://www.thirdgen.org/service-engi...ht-error-codes It will help narrow down the problem(s)

Forgot to add, the diagnostic terminal shown in the diagram is found under the dash on driver side. On your car you should see it through one of the holes in the plastic panel behind the front one and a little to the right of the steering column. Might have a little black cover on it that slides right off. Happy hunting

One thing to check would be your IAC valve, it is rare but it could be getting stuck closed. It is on the passenger side of the throttle body, also check your fuel filter and see if it is clogged.

How long have you owned the car before this started?
I would also check the TPS calibration(should read .5V when closed) as well as the ignition control module in the distributor. Probably not a bad idea to check for vacuum leaks while you're at it.

It sounds like you need a custom tune if you are running the stock tune.
You probably need to read the sticky's in the TBI forum about putting a 350 under your induction.
