guide to replacing headgasket
Does anyone know where I can find a detailed guide on replacing a head gasket in a carbed 305 engine in a thridgen. Just asking because I find that the intake manifold bolts in the back are nearly impossible to get out with a wrench. Thanks!

Not sure what issue you could be having besides them being over tight.
I've personally had no trouble. Recent workings have necessitated removal.
The head gaskets are pretty easy.
You know where they have to go so it's pretty much just logical dismantling and re-assembly if you are engine savvy. I would think you are to go this far.
If you are unsure (not saying that you are, just a general comment) about what you are doing then take lots pictures for reference.
They come in handy when you got a bunch of wires and stuff to re-route.
Also for showing any issues to the great guys here @ TGO.
Are you using a torque wrench for removal of the bolts? If not then you really need one for re-assembly purposes.
Perhaps a spray/soak with 3 in 1 or the likes on the bolts will help.
This may not help sorry but I don't know of a guide offhand except in my manual for the car. I learned how to do it some 20 years ago or more.
I could look it out and scan the pages if you like.

Re: guide to replacing headgasket
Well the main problem I am having has to deal with a few bolts on the intake manifold. Its not tha tI cant get it out but the sockt has trouble fitting around the bolt becuase there are like side walls around the bolt and when I do get the socket to fit the theres no room for the wrench becuase the bolts are angled inward. So I wasn't sure if there was a special way to get it out or a special tool I dont have. Besides that the exhaust manifolds have like a locking thing on the bolts in that back and I can't tell how to remove them.

I'm thinking you might be referring to the bolts alongside the carb mount?
Mines is an edelbrock performer and I used a universal joint with a short socket, however I had no probs with a 12 point combination wrench. It just takes a few off and ons to remove them. However I don't know what intake you have, but I envision the same sort of setup.
As for the exhaust bolts...I think you mean the locknut for adding the accessory mountings like the oil fill tube and so forth. If it is then I had to hold the inner bolt with an open end wrench and socket the outside nut. I had a couple probs with these being seized. A little tip....I keep a gallon of diesel around because of it's excellent rusted bolt penetration ability. A little medicine syringe or dropper is handy for applying, or some other similar disposable device.
That may not be what you are talking about though. There may be something else that was missing from mines when I removed them.
I hope I am being of help to you here.
Perhaps someone else will know what you mean if there's some sort of locking tabs that I am unaware of.
Good luck.
