89 IROCZ28, what's it worth?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but I didn't see a general discussion forum. I'm looking at this here car and I wanted some help on the value. Car shows 90k miles with a rebuilt tranny 3k ago. I've blurred out any people and contact information in the pictures. I wasn't able to drive it today, going out Monday for that (seller was at work today). What do you think? I'm planning on painting whatever I buy anyway unless it's got flawless black paint. What would you value the car at, and what would you look for specifically in the test drive or closer inspection?

There are a lot of pictures, sorry about that. The obvious damage is a big dent in the passenger door, two cracks on the front lip, sun fade everywhere, some rust on the wheels, two dents in the driver side fender, all of the black strip around the glass is worn/faded/chipped, and whatever else you can see from the pictures.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Hey. This is a project car bro. I would get it and slowly build her up. I would say that I would offer maby $1500-$2,000 G's. If the owner says no. Then you tell him that the body work and paint alone is more than $2000. And the front lower spoiler, the piece with 2 cracks on the lower bumper alone is about $200 to get a new one.

Thanks for the input. Everyone please keep it coming, I'm pretty sure both of these cars will sell pretty quick so I have to step on one on Monday.

Also, I just noticed you can catch an awesome reflection of my high speed hiking boots in the fender picture, enjoy.

Also ask for proof or reciept of the Trans-Go shift kit and the shop receipt of the tranny overhaul. Most people try to sqeeze out money by making bogus claims.

Small update, found some pictures on CarDomain of him at the drag strip, the car ran 15.15 @ 80.46. He claims he ran 14.6 with it, but the photos say 15.15.

Well, show him the picture to see if he has any thing to say. If you really want the IROC, stick it to him. That is how you will find out the facts. Since he is selling the IROC, ask him if he has a car fax. Check under the hood and see if there is any noticable dents or bends in the frame. You want to find any evidence of a past wreck. Look under the dashboard to see if the wiring harness has been spliced and jerry rigged.

You can't judge anything from that picture since you don't know the conditions of the car or the track that day. Maybe the owner had a bad day. Anyway, 14.6 is within range or a 350 camaro with minor mods so you shouldn't have to worry about that. As for price, 2000 is probably on the high end on what's it's worth.

I picked up mine with crappy paint, and some body damage as well, except I didnt need a new interior or any bumpers, and for only 1300, so offer 1200, and bargain with him from there

Re: 89 IROCZ28, what's it worth?

Check the RPO codes. Its kinda a build sheet. See if its a TRUE IROC. It should be in the center console. On the lid or somewhere on the inside of center console. It should say B4Z. amongst all the numbers. That means its a TRUE iroc-Z. Do some research on all those codes. There is a rpo decoder here on 3rd gen. it will tell you what the car is SUPPOSED to have in it from the factory. also run the VIN# that tells a bit of history as well. Find out if he still has the factory Iroc Rims too. Good Luck
