Re: failed deq

thats a tune up. HC is just left over fuel clean/change air filter plugs wires cap rotor all that good stuff, and you should pass no problem. It could be a leaking injector or something more serious too but I think you would have noticed by now.

yea it runs well, not very fuel efficient, but i expected that. it does however smoke sometimes on startup.

thats just guide seals/worn valve guides possibly, but ya tune her up look for any abnormalities, you should be good. you aren't far off thats 220 parts per million. Should be fairly obvious

Re: failed deq

this never fails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one gallon of denatured alcohol (which can be bought at any hardware store!!) and mix it with about 2 to 3 gallons of gas...you will pass like a brand new car even if you had a hollowed out cat! i live in california and it never fails! you have to pass visual though....i got this off a grand national web site...big turbos, high pound injectors, no cats and nothing but success! after you pass fill it up. alcohol is very corrosive. you can't have a check engine light on though and no this will not set it off ! keith

Left over HC's suggests lowered gas mileage so he should still try to fix the problem, but dude thats genius!!!

Re: failed deq

not shisty just fair... my wifes car is a 2000 mitsubishi 1.8l passes smog no problem but the computer throws a check engine light and they won't pass it!!! passed all other tests!!!! hc's are good!!!!!! if california and the rest of the country would wake up and use ethanol blended gas we wouldn't have to smog!!!! it doesn't hurt injected cars and states like minnesota have non oxygenated no ethanol premium pumps around town for carbed cars and small engines!!! too big of a cash crop for people to be smart! SMOG ha ha whatever!!! How many people drive these older cars really? not many but enough to rape>>> yes you should fix the car, but if you don't have the money and it runs good .....well you know what i would do>>> stick it to the man...
