89 iroc hard to crank when hot

i bought this car a few months ago and its always been hard to crank back when its hot, the car has headers on it so im thinking it could be heat soak on the starter. what are some other things that can cause one to be hard to crank back when they are hot? (it turns fast like its not getting fuel, then luggs out, you can come back 30 minutes later and cranks like a brand new one)

Might try the ICM in the distributor - mine went bad and wouldn't crank when it was hot. If it was your starter and heat soak, the starter wouldn't want to turn or it would turn slowly.

Ooo! Way way back years ago, I found that the timing being all ***** made mine sound like the battery was going dead after a couple cranks, so it could be part of the electronic ignition system causing it.

More recently I thought I had a heat soak problem when it turned out to be a cracked starter housing, but that's because they were giving me the wrong one.
