.520 lift heads
for the sake of getting this motor in my car instead of watching it set there on the ground with all the new shinny parts ready to get dropped in i have decided to look for a cheaper set of heads that will still work until i get a spare $1500 to buy some afr's... i have TPIS's zz409 cam and edelbrock performer air gap 7501 intake on an l98.. any help please at which heads will work.. if there arent any ill buite the bullet and wait.. but patience is at the bottom of my qualities list.. thanks ahead of time everyone

Isn't the 7501 intake pre-87 bolt patern? I'm just wondering how it's working on your L98 if it's the iron headed version.
What are you looking to spend? There's a lot between AFR and nothing, basically everything.

For only $600, you'll do well to manage to upgrade used stock heads to take that lift. You can get new bare heads delivered for that barely, but then what about valves, springs, gaskets, and so on?

Re: .520 lift heads
I personally would not spend $600 now only to start saving again for new heads. Thats half the price of the new ones already.
And if you dont have heads yet then there is no reason that intake wont work. Just get heads with the pre 86 bolt pattern.

Re: .520 lift heads
$600 would barely get you one of my hp factory casting heads all done up. Thats not a lot of budget for a set of heads. Dart heads (they really should start paying me for this) you can get as Atilla said bare for that amount, but then you have nothing left for hardware. $600 just isn't going to get you very far no matter what direction you go with it. I'd say sit on it. I know you're excited, but just think how awesome it will be when you get it the way you want it. It makes no sense to spend $600 dollars now on some kind of quasi temp. fix when you are so close to having the real thing. Just sit tight, and hang in there.

Re: .520 lift heads
I found a possibility, thanks to my current catalog from www.competitionproducts.com.
First, bare heads: Pro Topline 180, with 72 cc chambers ( I wish it was 64, but this'll take 85 octane, so it's not all bad ) $379.95
Valves, stainless, swirl-polished, 1-piece, set of 16, $79.95
Springs, $46.95
Retainers, reuse old stockers. Free.
Locks, "plus 50", $14.95
Seals, positive, $14.95
That all adds up to $536.75
If that does leave you $63, meaning shipping and gaskets weren't included in that $600, then I'd get the heads shaved 0.036", putting them at 66 cc. So you'd have about 9.0:1 compression if you use FelPro steel shim head gaskets.
