arching plug at night
heres the deal, Last night I replaced my radiator, I started the car and noticed a spark plug wire arching, I can see the spark right through one of the wires on the left side facing the car, I could also hear a very small ticking notices that comes and goes... sounds like a rocker arm to me... would this cause the spark wire to arc??....wires and plugs are brand new professionally done.
Re: arching plug at night
If it's arcing the plug wire is bad, period. Sometimes you get a bad one right out of the box. Often times there is a single strand of cunductor that doesn't get clipped properly and hangs out the union between the wire and the plug bood, arcing occasionally to the nearest ground.
The clicking you're hearing is the spark jumping that gap to the engine block/exhaust manifold or whatever ground happens to be nearby.

spark will take the least resistance to ground path it can, which means you got some bad parts somewhere, if jumping out of the rubber insulator is easier then firing off the plug..........
New parts doesn't mean they are good parts.

all of the above . new OEM carbon core type plug wires are not created equal . they all start to de-grade from date of mfg. . how long were they stored/onthe shelf/in the store ??? more likely than not installation was not the problem . higher price wires like M.S.D. , Taylor , or Acell pay off in the long run . good luck .
