Washer won't work

Have an 86 TA with pump attached to wiper motor.
Wipers work fine but get no screen wash.

Think the issue is the pump as the tube seems to get no suction at all and cant hear anything other then the wiper motor when switch is held.
Don't know how loud sound should be though so may be not hearing it?

Any way to confirm/ fix this problem?

Waiting in hope guys

P.S. im in the uk so cant just pop into my local yard for parts and spares so would prefer a way to fix existing parts.

Re: Washer won't work

you could try having someone push the washer button inside the car and test the connector going into the pump to see if its getting voltage. if so, then you the pump's getting power and its bad

Re: Washer won't work

I believe in 88 they upgraded the pump setup, which also turned out to be more reliable than the pre-88 setup.

Would be the perfect time to upgrade.

Re: Washer won't work

The washer bottle has the pump integral to it, so its all one assembly. Youd need the bottle/pump assembly, new hoses, and mounting hardware. You will also need to re-run your pump power wiring to the washer bottle at the front of the engine compartment. Not too hard, but you will need to aquire the parts first, which may be easier said than done in the UK.
