Re: heatercore hose question
I took out my heater core as well when I removed my AC. I sold it after I took it out and then wished I didn't. I could tolerate the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter, but man when it rained...
To answer your question, I just took the two hoses off the firewall and connected them with a coupler and two clamps. I am pretty sure there is a better way but that is how I got it done.

Re: heatercore hose question
You could also cap off the hose at the radiator that goes to your heater core and cap off or buy a plug to replace the fitting on the intake. That would get rid of all the hoses.
Or if you still want to be able to have heat, just get rid of the valve. Run one hose from the radiator to your heater core, and the other directly from the heater core to your intake.
