Re: Cam Shaft
Thats going to sound about stock. That is a very tiny cam. The big difference in intake to exhaust may may a small difference in the sound. A cam should be picked on your engine combo though. Not the sound. Not saying the sound isnt important, but it should not be the main concern and I wouldnt go through with a cam swap for just the sound. If your looking for a better sound, a cat back exhaust is probably what you want.

Re: Cam Shaft
Ok, I see your car is a 92. First off, is your car a TPI car? If so, are you willing to tune after you install your cam? The danger zone on the tpi springs is around 460-470 ish lift. Also, any duration @ .50 that is over 220/220 , would require reflashing your prom. Do you have a roller cam now? If so, why step down to a flat tappet?

Wih a 305 and 2.73 gears and especially with a stock torque converter, you DO NOT want a "lopey" idle; unless you are just itching to pull up to a light, and accidentally insult somebody in a Hyundai Accent or a Honda Fit or Scion xB or some such with all your bad-a$$ noise, and they proceed to blow you away which they assuredly WILL be able to. This can be very embarrassing, you can blee dat, unless you just enjoy providing that kind of entertainment by self-humiliation.
Good cams for 305s with those stupid highway gears like that have to be SMALL.
That said, that Edlebrock cam is an overpriced copy of a generic copied copy of a generic copy of a generic cam from about 40 years ago. You can buy the same crap for a third of the price as the Summit 1102. It is in fact none other than the "RV cam" you've heard tell about (and laughed at).
However, if your 305 is original to the car, it has a roller cam; meaning, you need to replace it with a roller cam. If you don't, you will also have to buy lifters, push rods, and timing chain, because they are DIFFERENT for a flat-tappet cam like those old generic ones than the ones you have now.
A better choice would be a stock LT1 cam, which you can pick up on ebay for around $50-60 all the time; or, the Comp "500" grind 08-500-8. With either of those you can re-use all your existing parts. And better yet, even though they won't "lope", you'll actually get MORE power, instead of what a "lopey" cam will give you, which is a MUCH SLOWER car.

Re: Cam Shaft
That particular Lunati cam is EXACTLY the same cam as the others; both the Eddie, and the Summit, and the Melling, and the SpeedPro, and the ..... about a million other boxes it comes in. The same generic copy of a generic copied copy of a generic copied cam copy.
And it's not a roller either, so it won't fit the OP's motor.
Although actually, the OP's cam is the one that has the same exh lobe as the "RV cam", but the next smaller intake lobe in that series. If the int lobes were body blemishes, Clearasil would be able to hide them.
It's got the same intake lobe as the Summit 1101 but the same exh lobe as the 1102. Eddie recently downgraded their cam from the usual 204°/214° .420"/.442" (the Summit 1102) to the 194°/.398" int lobe that's more usually mated with the 204°/.420" exh lobe, as it is in the Summit 1101. That Lunati however is identical to the Summit 1102 except for the price. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Re: Cam Shaft
Forget all that. First is rear gears. ALL the '85-'92 V6 / automatic F-cars had 3.42:1 axles. You can get the whole thing for under $100 most places, it's an easy swap.
Second is exhaust. Do a 3" cat-back, then do headers and matching Y-pipe.
Then you're ready for a cam. The RamJet 350 cam from GM Performance Parts is the best for under 5000 rpm. That's all you need if you have the swirl-port heads. If you have, or are switching to, 081 heads, then the LT1 cam makes more sense.
