Valve Seals

Hello,

I recently purchased a 1990 5.7L stock IROC-Z with 51,000 miles. I love the car and it runs great. However, I've notice blue smoke exiting the tailpipe on start-up. I have a local mechanic that is able to replace the valve seals which should eliminate the smoke.

My question is....While he is working on the valve seals are there other parts that I should have him replace/update. I am willing to pay extra if these changes will help the car run better, increase its horsepower, help fuel efficiency or eliminate future work that might need to be done. Any thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Nothing really as part of the valve seals. Better valve springs would support future improvements, and since you have to take them off to replace the valve seals, might as well put in a set of decent aftermarket springs instead of reinstalling the stock springs.
