Problem with dome light
Problem with dome light
So i recently got a 89 camaro rally sport. Now the dome light does not work. The girl i got it from said it never worked and she never bothered to get it fixed. So i had my mechanic friend look at it today and all the fuses seemed to be working. He thought their had to be another fuse box for the dome light. We checked the bulb and it looked good, even the guy at auto zone said he didnt think it was the bulb. But also the cigarette lighter does not work. After checking a second time he noticed the accessory fuse was empty so he put in a fuse but it shorted out. He had some tool to check it. After trying to put in another fuse in accessory section it also shorted out. Does anyone know exactly what fuse is for the dome light? The manual does not really say.

the cig lighter is famouse for blowing fuses as soon as their in, you need to disconnect the cig lights, im not sure how but if you search my threads and find the one where I had the same problem someone told me in there how to dissconect the lighter, good luck.

Re: Problem with dome light
Unscrew that small panel the lighter is in and pull it out a bit. There is a clip attached to the back of the lighter socket that you disconnect. You can either replace the socket by unscrewing it from the back while you hold the front by sticking your finger in it and putting a new one in , or leaving it disconnected. If you don't connect it make sure you insulate that clip. The orange wire is always hot and you don't want it grounding out on anything. Replace the fuse and it should now be okay
