I removed the cat from a 1988 305 tbi (please dont preach to me about the pollution BS because i really dont care If u do then go hug a tree) Now with that out of the way, it seems to be running rich all pollution stuff is still hooked up and the air tube is welded shut. Is there something iam missing, does the timming need to advance a degree or 2

How did you go about removing the cat?
TBI is a speed density system that makes assumptions based on the conditions it sees. Changing one thing, like the exhaust flow characteristics, can mess with its brain.
Is your SES light coming on?

Re: Cat removed
Most likely, it is not running any richer than it was before. Difference is, now you can smell it, because the "air freshener" is gone.
There might be a little self-tuning going on, due to a decrease in backpressure now, if you had a stock or a well used one, but without the cat, the rich odor smell is something you are most likely going to have to live with. You might be able to tune some of it out in the PROM, but probably not all of it.

Re: Cat removed
(its so funny too, I'm doing the exact opposite - taking a car that was hacked up and putting EVERYTHING back on it)
