Any theories? (Spark Issue)
Any theories? (Spark Issue)
So I have 2 1992 Camaros. One is a V6 and the other a V8. I have been driving the V6 for a few months and decided to drive the V8 for a bit. This morning after drivng the V8 for about a week I try to start it and it wasnt firing. I was in a rush for work so I hopped into the V6 and THE SAME THING!!! Called into work... Checked both cars and neither have spark. So after a ton of testing and tinkering the V6 all of a sudden started right up like nothing ever happened. I took that moment and went to pick up a coil for the V8. Once I replaced the coil on the V8 it fired right up. After I test drove the V8 I decided to try to start the V6 again to make sure all was good.... NOPE!
The V6 Has no spark. Tommorrow I am going to get a new coil for it as well but does anyone have any theories why BOTH would all of a sudden crap out on the same day?!
The V8 was a MSD coil that was about 8 years old and the V6 coil is a "stock" coil new from about 6 months ago... Weired? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Any theories? (Spark Issue)
Sounds like a spark module issue inside the distributor. Had the same thing happen to several of my HEI ignition automobiles.

Check your battery cables. Hot to cold to hot days cause condensation and a thin layer of rust/corrosion will keep them from starting.
Re: Any theories? (Spark Issue)
So far the common theory is EMP/UFOs..... lol. I am in Florida and we havent had any cold as of yet but the cables still wouldnt explain the engine starter fully engaging and there not being any spark
. The module.... possibly but my confusion is the fact that they both happened the same day. I think I need to stay inside or I may get struck by lightning three times in a row while walking down the road on a clear day...
