Engine Problems?
I have a 305 V8 TPI engine with a few issues.
1.) For some reason when I get up to about 50mph+ and i'm hitting the accelerator, the whole car starts to shake until i release the accelerator. I've only noticed it the past 2 weeks.
2.) I don't know if this has to do with the engine but when my car is off for a while, it won't start when i try to turn it on. Nothing out of the ordinary was done, no lights on, car is off. I'll go to school and after 3 hours i'll come back and try to turn my car on and it won't start. I'm not sure at all what this could be. This has been happening for some time now. Roughly 2 months some days it does it, other days it doesn't. I have to keep trying to turn the car on until it finally does.
3.) Sometimes when i do get my car started, and i don't let it sit for a minute, when i put it into drive and give it gas, at about 10mph the car will jolt back and forth until i release the accelerator. I've only noticed it the past 2 weeks as well.
4.) I should be getting about 15 to 18 miles to the gallon, roughly, so I should be getting 200 miles on a full tank. Just last week my car shut off while in drive and i had only gone 115 miles. Is there something I could change to get better gas mileage that isn't pricey? Or is there something i should change to get the 200 miles im supposed to get. I have full air in my tires and i always drive in overdrive because of better mpg.
5.) Sometimes the accelerator isn't as peppy as other times. Sometimes i'll barely touch the accelerator and i'm off, but other times I really have to press it down to gain speed.
6.) When I have the A/C on, it slows my cars performance down majorly. I really have to hit the accelerator to even go anywhere.
I have a very bad feeling that my accelerator and starter is going bad.

Re: Engine Problems?
you know, that could be any of a number of issues, but mine was acting similar, and wouldn't even get to 50 before the shaking started. Turned out to be my distributor was bad. I replaced it with a brand new one for about $150.00 and it runs perfect now.

I've also heard it could be bent rims, bad alignment, egged tires, bad tranny, bad wheel barrings, etc etc. I'll have to take it to my mechanic to get my distributor looked at.

I failed to note, that my shaking was accompanied by what to me sounded like a huge misfire while driving, but when stopped the motor ran fine. Started snooping and found the distributor was just worn out, car has 141k on it.
