to rebuild my engine or not

I pulled a 3 connecting rod covers off the crank journals on my 350 just to see how the bearings looked and found one of them to have a little dirt groove in the bearing and on the crank journal. Also of the 3 connecting rod bearing covers I took off, some of the thin grey coating was worn off, on both sides of the bearings. Does the crank need just to be polished or turned down and some oversized bearings be used.
Another thing I found was after I took the heads off I saw that there was some thin brown patches of dried oil near the top of the cylinder walls so I'm thinking of I might have to replace the piston rings. As for the timing chain it was stretched but not as bad as I have seen on other engines.
I'll try to get some pics this weekend when I have time to take some pics.
What would machining costs to polish the crank...or turn it down .010? Hone or bore the cylinders.
As for the block and heads, they were very clean so it appears to have been taken care of.
I am hoping not to rebuild my engine but after finding the little groove in the crank has me wondering what I should do.

If the grooves in the crank aren't deep enough to catch a fingernail, and it measures ok, then you can probably just polish. Prices for machine work vary by location. Call your local shops and ask.
