Please Help, No electrical power in car at all!
I wen't to start my car, the engine wasn't completly cold, but i got in and everything was fine, I wen't to start it, and it cranked for 2 seconds but everything completely died, It never actually started, but I lost all power as if i took out the battery, I tried jumping it but no good. PLEASE HELP ME. I checked the fuses and they are all good. Any Ideas what it could be???? The car has no electrical power at all, no lights, nothing. I'm gunna try a brand new battery but i have a feeling that it wont work. I can't realy test anything with a test light because theres no power in the car at all, (at least thats what it appears to be) I appreciate all help, Please help me. Thank you!

A test light is all you need. Check for light at the battery terminals, then check the ground, then the battery cable connection at the starter, etc.

Does it sound like a relay? Checking the connection at the starter wont work because, the WHOLE car has no electrical power... And could a bad battery do that? just work enough to power the car for about a minute then just loose all power???

It seems like a big relay or a big fuse in the car but i'm not sure what relay if there is one like that for the whole car? in the fuse block theres 2 silver giant looking fuses, what do they do?

Well, I'm gunna get a new battery. I tried jumping it like I said but it didn't work, but I spoke to a guy at the parts store and he said its probly just the battery. But I thought the lights would at least be dim or something but theres nothing. but the thing i cant understand is when i got in the car everything was fine, and it was only 3 hrs after i had it running last, and i went to start it up and the motor cranked 2 times and it sounded like the battery was low because the motor was lugging slowly as it was going to start (which its been doing that for a while in the cold) and then everything just died out. the engine never started

But isn't there like relays by the firewall or something that act as like a circuit breaker for the car? I doubt that theres any poor electrical connections? and how would I go about starting that anyway ground the light to the fender and just start poking metal connections?? to see if it gets light?

Re: Please Help, No electrical power in car at all!
I did check those things haha, But accually today I went back to my gfs house (where the car died) and I got in and i noticed the courtesy lights were on, so i figured id try and crank it over and after like 5 seconds of the engine trying to turn over with the little juice the battery probly had it finally started. I have no idea what the problem was, the only thing i can think of was that because today it was like 65 degrees maybe the acid in the battery got warm and expanded and "charged" the battery enough. But like i said in my original post, the car had only sat for 3 hrs and when i was going to leave it tried to crank then just completly died. and when i opened the hood to check the connections i felt a little heat from the engine, so its not even like it was totally cold. I got a new battery anyways. but when i go to start it, it goes strong then on the 5th revolution of the engine before it starts it slows down as if the battery is dying. Any Ideas??? I appreciate the help SO much to everyone. Honestly the worst part about all this, was when i pushing the car last night, so i could be able to get a truck in front of me for a jump (wich didn't even work), was when the A**hole in the fox body mustang drove by and of course had to rev up real loud, and of course it had to be one of my gfs friends that began talking crap. **** mustangs

Re: Please Help, No electrical power in car at all!
I'm pretty sure that it was the connection to the battery. Is there any corrosion on the terminals at all? I had a similar situation last year where all the lights would come on but when I tried to crank it the whole car would lose all power for something like thirty seconds. The situation would repeat itself if I tried to crank it over. I took the wires off the terminals and roughed 'em up with a wire brush to get all the corrosion off of them. Worked like a champ after that. What it is, is that the corrosion causes a butt-ton of resistance on the starting circuit. The additional load this creates causes the circuit breakers to trip. What clued me in to the starting circuit is that it is the only one with circuit breakers in it. All the other circuits have fuses in them. Fuses obviously don't reset by themselves like circuit breakers do.

Re: Please Help, No electrical power in car at all!
Theres not realy any kind of corrosion at all, It was just so wierd how it did that last night. But see, I had no lights or anything. Completely no power in the car electrically at all. It cranked like 2 revolutions or 2 secons, and Everything died completly. I didn't have the lights on but my door was open and all the courtesy lights went out and the car stoped cranking. I didnt hear any fuses blow or any clicks giving me the idea of a low or almost dead battery but it seemed like the battery was taken out all together. And after i pushed the car i wan'ted to check the fuses cuz i thought maybe there was a main fuse for electrical but i thought that SOMETHING would get power even if the ignition wasn't getting power. and i came home (i had to leave my car) and looked in my camaro repair manual and it talked about fuseable links by the starter and the ignition, and i got real worried because i don't know how to repair that stuff and i don't have a whole bunch of money for a tow and stuff like that. But i thought again, even if it was one of those, SOMETHING in the car would get power unless a batt wire right by the batt was cut or something but. i don't know. I just never heard of anything like that before without any clicks or just dim courtesy lights

Its off topic but how much did it cost to build up your transmission on your car? I got a 700R-4 and I'd like to get a shift kit eventually

Re: Please Help, No electrical power in car at all!
I didn't have to replace any of my fuseable links at all. When I removed my wires from the battery terminal it didn't appear to have much corrosion at all. But I guess it was just enough to inhibit the current. Even if you don't think its the problem, try it anyway. It doesn't cost anything except ten minutes of your time. Solved my problem.
If you are asking about my transmission, I paid $1200 for it which is the exact same price I was quoted to do a simple rebuild of my stock tranny. Not a difficult choice for me. Dana at Pro-Built is a true professional. When you call him, make sure you have all of your ducks in a row. He's going to ask you all sorts of questions regarding your car, driving habits, intended purpose of the car, shift points, etc. It will be a real "custom" built transmission. It is deffinately not a one-size-fits-all approach. You will be happy with it.

Your right about the terminals. I'm gonna do that tomarrow. I am just so glad it wasn't a major problem and im glad I can shut up the A**hole talkin' sh*t that has the fox body mustang. And thanks for the info on the trans. Like I said, i dont have much money right now so thats gonna have to wait. I just wana nice build that will chirp the tires when it shifts. Id love to get rid of that stock plastic handle and just put on a t handle **** but idk how to bypass that dam button
