Got my camaro running, but its running too rich
Hello everyone, so I fixed my overheating problem, got my friend to replace head gaskets for very cheap. He told me that my smog equipment was hooked up to water line so it caused the car to overheat, so he removed the smog equipment too, except the smog pump. Car starts and drives but when im inside the car its like a gas chamber, my eyes watering and I can smell fumes of gas. Black smoke coming from the tailpipes, engine has no power what so ever, I have to floor it to get to 60mph. So my question is: What should I check/replace first?
Btw engine is 305 TBI with auto transmission.

The cat, mine starts smoking when it gets too hot and the smoke goes up into the engine. The smoke itself doesn't go in the car but the fumes do. I have to leave the windows down when I drive. It also has no power , I raced my friends 1992 stock jeep Cherokee and lost horribly.

Is there anything else that would cause the car to run lean?
Yeah I kinda figured that he was mistaken about my smog equipment being hooked up to water.
I was reading around and now wondering, is there a TC sensor on my car and could it be the problem of running lean.?

Hello everyone, today I found some time to work on my car. I found out that headers smog equipment ports not plugged in and just sucking in air. Could it be the problem of running rich? Also I figured that its missing a smog canister and connecting ports are still there and not plugged in either. Also on top of the thermostat housing where water hose connects there are two sensors that are disconnected and covered by rubber covers.
Im gonna attach some pictures

I didn't know vacuum operated sensors/switches were still being used in '89.
Canister disconnected: No problem as long as the vacuum lines of the canister at the carb/intake are plugged.
If air was getting into the smog pump check valves the headers would get really hot, like glowing red hot.
Cat won't last long without the air from the smog pump.
Coolant Temperature sensor is on the radiator hose neck at the intake.

Leaving the AIR system disconnected from the exhaust won't cause your problems.
The first thing to do is get your "friend" to put everything back, exactly as it was before he butchered it.
