88 5.7 IROC 2.77 posi, 700R4, just at toy, not a daily

The engine in the car runs but the crank snout is bent and it has mismatched heads, an 083 and a 193. I was going to rebuild it and bought a bunch of new parts but decided to go used for now. I bought a used L98 out of an 89 Formula. I could just drop it and go after I pull my old engine but I was thinking about freshening up some stuff like the pan gasket, maybe the rear seal, timing gasket and seal, maybe even go as far as to the oil pump. I have a new set of main and rocker bearing, Clevite, thought about pulling the crank and having it polished and put these in. The new engine has 96K miles on it. Just thought I would get ya'alls ideas.

Either way I am going to clean and paint the engine bay and polish the TPI stuff. The new motor came with a TPIS 58mm TB, Accel runners, ported manifold and an AFPR.

 

well, for my two cents worth, I say while you have the new engine out, tear it down and rebuild it with new stuff, then you got a motor that will be good for another 100k or so.

 

I could see that but this engine was a good running motor before pulled. This car is just a toy, I may drive it a few times a month. A rebuild is not an option right now or I would have done that to the original motor, I already have all new bottom end components on the shelf. I may build the old engine over time.
