down the injector hole

this is a good one,I got this 3.1 from a guy who got it from another guy.well, the original owner in this trade deal didn't cover it to good.Acorns and trash were all down in the fuel rails and under the pendlem or what ever it is.I took the top off with the throtle body,I'm changing some parts anyway cause it's going into a 86 bird.will I eased the fuel rail off and one of the acorn tops fall off into the ijector hole.well about half of one anyhow.there old and dried out.some dust probly got in but not much.the acorn cap is what has me going.the motor is not a rebuild.it was pulled out of a wrecked car.do I have to pull this thing apart more, like sure death for my motor if I don't,or will it turn to dust and go out the esaust port most likly?any input would be apresheated.

Re: down the injector hole

I would say you'll have to take the intake off and maybe even the head or heads... I say might as well do it the right way the first time than have to do it all over again after firing it up ...

Re: down the injector hole

if it just droped down the hole, shouldn't it be laying on top of the block or head, unless that valve happened to be open.

Re: down the injector hole

personally I'd rather be safe than sorry... a 5 hour or so job about 100 dollars worth of gaskets, RTV Silicone and what not... in my book is better than a rebuild and thousands of dollars... ... plus you have the ease of mind that there is no foreign object in your cylinder that could potentially wreak havoc on your engine...
