Ignition Module

After my 89 RS with 305 and TBI sits idle for several weeks the ignition module burns out.
Background: I purchased the car from the second owner 18 months ago with a bad distributor (the car would shut off when warm due to massive timing fluctuation). The distrubutor has been replaced with new, and the car driven over 3,000 miles to Ohio and Atlanta without problems. The car has no wiring butchering, and a fourth gen camaro AM/FM/CD player. The battery holds a charge. The coil appears to be original.
The car fires right up after the module is replaced.......and yes I'm using the correct amount of dielectric grease under it.
This is my fourth replacement module. Any ideas?

Foiled By The Coil

Replace that 23 year old coil.

If the primary has a partial short that will take out the module.

Happy Racing!
