My 89 Trans am Build

Well i have been trolling these forum's for a couple of weeks now, so i thought i would start a build thread to kinda show you guys what my new project is.

So about 3 weeks ago i bought a 89 trans am with a 350 TPI, it needs paint and the motor had a knock. So me and my father pulled the motor out and are in the process of rebuilding it. Im hoping to get the motor put in this weekend cause my daily driver (86 fiero) overheated and is in non running condition now. (happened the first time i drove it after buying the trans am )

List of things done

We put different crank and pistons and rods from a 350 marine motor.
Rebuilt and Gasket matched the stock heads
New cam
110 Degrees lobe separation
.495 INTAKE LIFT / DUR.@.050 .218 DEGREES
.502 EXHAUST LIFT / DUR. @.050 .224 DEGREES
Headers
z28 valve springs
and lots of paint on the motor lol

Re: My 89 Trans am Build

Got some progress done this weekend, the car is about ready to start just waiting on some parts that will be here tuesday. The photos dont do the motor justice, its painted metalic pontiac blue.

Re: My 89 Trans am Build

Got it started up and running, just got to finish the exhaust (open headers now) from what i can tell now the cam doesnt have as much lope to it as i had hoped. Anyways i think we might get the exhaust finished tommorow and hopefully ill get to drive it a little. so ill post back tommorow with some more information.

Re: My 89 Trans am Build

that cam should have a bit of lope to it, if you went with a 108 lobe separation you'd have been satisfied.

Re: My 89 Trans am Build

Got the exhaust finished up today and finally drove it, and it runs really good drove it for about to hours and it died on me about a block from home lol, apparently the alternator is not working. the cam is not quite what i was shooting for it lopes a little but not quite as much as i had hoped. Other than that i have not had any problems, im suprised at how well the car runs with that cam the ecm doesnt seem to be having any problems with it.
