I was reading in another thread, that intake manifolds were usually the cause of coolant in oil. I'm asking because my last motor had this problem and I'm planning on using the same intake manifold (edelbrock performer air gap) in my new build. Although my block was cracked in three places......I still wanna be sure its good (the intake). Can I check it myself? Or take it to machine shop? Thank-you

 

I don't know about your case, but my OEM TPI base warped. I wasn't getting coolant in my oil, but the engine was sucking oil into the combustion chamber. There was a TSB issued for this problem.

 

I would have the machine shop check it before you install it. My OEM TPI manifold had erroded away by the rear driver side coolant ports. I had them weld it and then grind it back down flat.

 

Cant magnaflux aluminum, if its cracked youll be able to see it unless it was internal somwhere (doubtful)

 

A cracked manifold or int. ma. gasket produces vacuum at the oil dipstick tube. You can hear and feel it.
