92 Z28 High Idle

Ok so I have had my camaro for almost a year, never had any issues, only after market parts is an exhaust. About a month ago it started Idling high, like 2500, and since then the trans shifts in like 6-6500 rpms.
I swapped the TPS and The IAC off of an 88 that runs perfect, same issue, rejected timing, completely cleaned out the throttle body, I have used 2 cans of carb cleaner, no vaccum leaks. Can anybody help please.
thank you

Need a little more info, I'm guessing you have a tpi car.
only thing I can think of is that the throttle cable/tv cable bracket was bent or knocked around somehow. Since the TV cable is the only thing really controlling shift points, that would explain two normally unrelated problems.

Yes it is tpi. A friend told to disconnect the tv cable and see if the idle changges, nothing.
Here is something I though of last night, when it is idling the motor sounds fine, it doesnt sound like its over reving, what controld the tach?is it a cable or electric. I was wondering if it could have got out of wacked some how and is now reading higher?

I would try a known good tach. Cuz if your car was actually shifting at 6500 rpm, it would be just screaming. At what mph does it shift?

Re: 92 Z28 High Idle

it shifts out of first at about 15, then to 3rd at25, and final at 45, that is if you just barely push it,
if you punch it, it goes to the end of the red line and then will shift, sometimes right away sometimes it takes a sec, and yes it screams when its that high, I am goin to change the filter and fliud but I dont know if the tranny is affecting the idle, she has about 230k on her

Sounds like the TV cable is about where it should be then. Transmission shouldn't affect the idle speed I dont think.
