What is with all the valve covers with no oil filler...

Started looking for aftermarket (or stockish) steel valve covers for my 350 (70s vintage heads and block) and I am blown away that most of the aftermarket stuff has no oil filler hole! Most of the ones out there have only one hole per cover (PCV on one and vent on the other--both left and right covers are the same stamping). How are people getting oil into their engines these days using these covers, are they running pre 70s intakes with the oil filler on the intake, are they dripping oil into the dipstick...?

My guess is this is a cheap made in china thing where they are using the same stamping for both sides. I have notice the trend for the cast aluminum ones as well. I have even noticed it on the centre bolt covers!

I must say I am thoroughly puzzled by this.

Pull out breather, add oil, replace breather.

Shouldn't be
30+ years ago many US made covers came without the filler hole ( for those that want a cleaner look).
The hole and lugs for the filler cap were cast on the underside of cover but you had to cut the hole out if you wanted to use it
