This is for my 88 Firebird. I need to replace my wiper switch. I'm talking about the switch inside the steering column that the turn signal lever goes into. I have one from an 82 trans am. Actually I have the whole steering column. I found out the 82's and 83's switches are different from the rest of the years. Both columns look identical. So whats the difference between the two switches and how can I get the the one from the 82 to work in my 88?

 

Can I just swap the electrical connectors?

I tried wiring in the extra switch I have from underneath the dash board. All the wire colors match but one. My car has a white one and the switch has a black one. But it still didn't work right. And when I put it on high the wipers would just pulse in and out of park position. So I guess that answers my original question.
