Fuel Injectors

Ok the mechanic says I need new fuel injectors in my 89 firebird Formula 350. He wants 1200 to install new OEM injectors. My thought is first doing it myself which I have done before on other cars and motorcycles.

But the questions I have is what injectors to put in. I have seen others selling or replacing theirs with higher flow rate injectors and can gain some HP.

What is the stock flow rate?
What is the max flow rate for a stock pump?
What should I upgrade to and not reduce the performance?
Any suggestion on remanufacturer vs new?

Any help is appreciated.

AZ Firebird.

Re: Fuel Injectors

$1200? You will save yourself about $1000 or more if you install them yourself. The stock replacement for the 350 would be 22lb injectors. The pressure is 43.5psi. Unless you are planning on burning a chip, upgrading to a larger size injector is not going to give you more horsepower it's just going to cause you to use more fuel. As far as injectors are concerned we recommed the 22lb bosch lll's. If we can help you in any way please do not hesitate to contact us! Re: Fuel Injectors

I have been using him for several years its hard to find someone that you know will do it right the first time.
But today maybe the last day I use him. Maybe its the economy but he overcharged me for somethings today that pissed me off. Simple exhaust pipe cost me 180, troubleshooting the fuel injectors 100 and then tried and cleaned them was another 100.

Re: Fuel Injectors

He charged you $200 to work on your injectors and you need to replace them anyway?? Hell, we would have cleaned them, flowtested them, given you all new parts ie screens, orings, etc AND a before and after flow sheet for $15 per injector.
Times are tough out there, everyone trying to make a buck, don't throw your money away.
