92 No Start

I have a 92 RS 6 cylinder. I put the key in and all the lights come on just as they should. Radio, dash lights, everything. I hear the fuel pump coming on as well. Turn the key and nothing. No clicks, no nothing. I tried having a friend hold it over while I banged on the starter and nothing happened. I tried wiggling the wires to the ignition switch and nothing happened. Tried disconnecting and cleaning the battery terminals and nothing happened. This is my daily driver and I'm in need of some help here. Thanks folks.

Also, the security light never comes on, and the INFL REST light comes on and stays on...

Re: 92 No Start

Might still be a VATS issue even though your not getting a secuity light. Find the starter enable relay, and remove the relay, then take a short piece of 10gauge wire, and stick it in the relay connector so that the large yellow and large green wire are connected, then see if the starter turns. If it does, then you know you have a VATS issue and you need to bypass the VATS.

Re: 92 No Start

I was thinking vats, just because the bypass hasn't been done yet. I didn't think about jumping the starter relay though. Would it still be able to be jumped even though the vats has it disabled? Do you know where it is located?

Re: 92 No Start

Just an update. It was indeed the Vats, even though no security light came on. I did the bypass but I didnt have to cut any wires. Instead I just bent a 10k Ohm resistor into a horseshoe shape and put it into the Vats Module side of the connector, and electrical taped it up. Fired right up the first time. Took 2 minutes and less than a dollar. Hope this helps somebody.
