strong fuel smell from exhaust at idle
ive got an 87 iroc 350 daily driver i need help with. at idle with the motor cold or warm i get a fuel smell from exhaust pipe like burn your eyes unburnt fuel smell. car has new plugs wires cap rotor coil and coolant temp sensor. base timing is set at 6 degrees. i checked tps sensor for proper voltage readings and they were within spec.so now im pretty much stumped. if i blip the gas at idle it will rev nicely then pop alot out of exhaust. it doesnt blow any smoke though. please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it cough every time you pass a gas station?
Does it ride kinda rough and not stop all that great?
Do the rear tires wear out quicker then the front?
If yes to all 5 I got some real bad news for you, what you got there is a Muscle Car. Seen it a thousand times.
They make a special car for folks who find it to be a problem, its called a Prius.
sorry, its late

Re: strong fuel smell from exhaust at idle
i had a 84 z with a swapped in 355 and a 750 holley....ran like a beast...never smelled like fuel at idle when the carb was set right....
all the computer crap is confusing me thats why i asked the questions in the first place....im gonna check the o2 sensor tomorrow.....just gonna throw a new one in. car also takes forever to warm up and doesnt seem to enter the magical "closed loop" like it should until its been driven a good fifteen minutes...getting tempted to ditch tpi

wake up the dead in the wrong section, sounds like you need to learn to tune or re-jet your carb and look at the ccp.
