305 TPI, Are these good performance mods so far?

So I had bought a 1989 Iroc-Z Camaro. I bought the car with no engine and a horrible 700r4 Trans.

Who knows if the U-joint or Rear end is good. But it performs fine. 3.27 rear end with 160,xxx miles on it.

So heres what I have done so far.

- I bought a engine for 1989 Camaro 305 TPI. 80,xxx miles.
- I had the 700r4 rebuilt with a corvette servo, shift kit, no slip blet, high end stall (not sure what kind, I forgot... maybe 2200)
- I have .5mm thicker Spark plug wires w/ gold conducted Distributor Cap.
- I have a very basic cold air fliter that goes towards the manifold (Yeah, I know... its supposed to face the front but my hood will not close so I had it pointed towards the manifold... I know thats not good and hot air isn't as dense as cold air, you guys dont have to rag on me, but soon I will definitely get a dual one)
- B&M Hammer shifter
- Dual Y-Pipe with dual Cats and Flowmaster exhaust.

Now I have these sitting in my room just haven't never put them on yet.

- SLP High Flow Runners, so that means I'm going to port out my plenum, intake and heads so I don't choke my engine with all the fresh air
- Hooker Shorty Headers
- Stage 2 Jet Performance chip with 180 degree thermostat
- 58 mm Throttle Body

This is what I plan on getting in the future
- is get my rear rebuilt with 3.73 gears and a nice tough Axel shaft.
- A good cam with roller rockers and lifters and new valves
- Bore it out .60
- New Pistons
- Some kinda of knifed crank
- Performance Oil Pump
- 32 lb injectors.

So I want to know what do you guys think about the things that I have in bold? (that's what I have right now ang the things in my room I just didn't get put on yet)

Are those Good Performance upgrades? Will I noticed anything in jains after I have the things that I have in my room put on with the things I already have?

I don't drive aggressive or race btw.

If you going to go as far as remachining your block and upgrading internals, and your goals for your car are performance oriented, find a 350 you can rebuild. Build it on an engine stand while you can still drive your car daily. Then when youve got all the pieces in place, swap it in. That's gonna be the real gain in performance it sounds like your looking for.

If you don't drive aggressive or race then why go through all the work? Why not just make a torquey touring car that looks nice and has a good highway gear?

Stock throttle body is fine, 58mm is way too big. Stock injectors are fine too. Get yourself an Adjustable fuel pressure regulator.I would go ahead with the runners and plenum but forget about the idea of 373 gears. You will throw your car out of its usable powerband unless you have a 5 speed or are planning on ditching your tpi altogether.

Okay, I see what you are saying... But if I'm doing Plenum and Runners... I mise well port the heads and intake right? Why have all that fresh air coming through the Runners and Plenum, but not matched up with Intake and Heads. Agree?

Well, you could ,but you would be fine with just doing plenum and runners for now and using your adjustable fuel pressure regualtor to add a pound or two of fuel. I have heard not to siamese the lower intake. It boils down to what kind of car are you trying to build? TPI cars shine in the lower end torque. If it were me, i would look for a head with the smallest runner available. Something like a 165 cc to 170. Something like a vortec head. Which can be had at a junk yard for a couple hundred bux. Then get the special Scoggin Dickey lower manifold. That along with your runners and plenum will yield about 300 plus horsepower. I mean you could go for a "high rpm" type car and get "big heads" (200 cc flow) and then a high duration cam, higher flowing intake(super ram). Then you would need the 24lb/hr injectors and the bigger throttle body. At that point you would need a steeper gear ratio like a 373 to get the car moving into it's high rpm band where it will shine. Its up to you. What kind of car are you looking for?
