my 305 performance
My firebird has a 305 that i have gradually been modding and would like feedback and suggustions.
-cold air intake with 3" pvc intake- already on
-msd 6al- already on
-nitrous 75 shot- already on
-series 40 muffler- already on
-smog pump gone
-water injection- have and will increase nitrous shot with
-1.7 roller rockers- have from previous project and did have on but didnt have tall valve covers so they will work
-remove cat conv- soon
-afpr- soon
-t-56 trans- soon

Re: my 305 performance
I think you put this in the wrong section and you haven't really addressed anything on your motor that would dramatically increase power i.e. heads, cam, maybe a new intake if you're running the stock one. The T56 would be a nice addition but doesn't really increase power on your 305. A properly matched head/cam/intake set will do wonders.

Sounds like theres a lot of other "bolt on's" you can do, but like jkrustchinsky said, other than the "75 shot" you probably arent making (much) more power than factory....
To support you, I'd look into a full exhaust system, after that your getting into maybe a set of heads. Hate to hate on your build, but if I had a 305 I'd probably just enjoy it for what it is!

Yes I tend to agree with the guys so far. I know an AFPR will help power. Really need some headers, full exhaust. Intake manifold modifications, heads, cam for more power. Or more cubic inches.

Re: my 305 performance
not much if any power except for the nos (i wouldn't use it on a high mileage car).... ....
msd 6al- not worth it on a stockish car.. not even on a built car but it looks nice : )...
-nitrous 75 shot - depeding on how good of shape your motor is this could ruin your
engine if you use it carelessly...
-series 40 muffler- a muffler alone on a otherwise completely stock exhuast from manifolds back wont do much... full catback gives about 10-20 back to the motor even more with headers...
-smog pump gone - doesnt add any power but gets rid of some "parasitic" rotational loss from the belts which yeilds maybe slightly slighty faster revs.. More of a apperance mod than anything else.....
-water injection- like i said increasing nos will only raise your chances of ruining your engine..
-1.7 roller rockers- dont think its a good idea since stock heads and stock weak springs and retainers that only have about .470 lift max and press in studs and when revved really high may have a chance of pulling some studs.. most people use 1.6 rockers... why 1.7 rockers...
-remove cat conv- could cause the car to smell or be rich
-afpr- really not needed unless you have heads cam intake upgrades....
-t-56 trans- very good mod but wont add power....
for you i would do headers and complete exhaust.. take out those rockers and put the stock back in. a nice shift kit and a corvette stall and you should be happy...
