Stock 92 RS won't start

My daughter has been driving the car for 2 years without problem. First complaint was that rear hatch light was staying on. She pulled the light out of the socket. Over couple weeks motor seemed to be turning over slower and slower untill finally not at all. Jump starting the motor only burned one of the fusable links. Replace that with 20 amp fuse link. Now the dash warning lights are on even though the key is not in the ignition. Only disconnecting the battery stops this condition. Not sure what the next step for trouble shooting is. You guys are awsome. I know you can point me in the right direction.

Starter - make sure all wires including batt positive are on the larger terminal, and ONLY the purple wire is on the smaller terminal by itself.

Grounds - make sure neg batt cable connects well to block, check groundstrap from rear of pass head to firewall, and check ground wire from neg batt post to fender - maybe scuff the metal where the grounds connect with some sandpaper.

Here's a starter diagnosis: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=38
