'89 5.0L what? If TPI 19 is too low, if TBI 19 is too high.

And I'd try a 10 minute $10 fuel filter before I dropped the tank to do a pump.

Re: 19psi fuel pressure good or bad?

"relatively new" would matter if they were age dependant, but they are dirt dependant - even a one week old filter could be clogged already depending on what kind of gunk is floating around in the tank. Especially given that the fuel pump socks often rot into nothing from the gas exposure.

I'm just saying that I'd much rather try another filter before I dropped the tank or cut the access hole - especially when it's only 10 minutes and $10.

Were you testing the fuel pressure with the car running in park and the pressure regualtor hose disconnected and plugged as to simulate WOT? IF so, you should be getting 43.5 psi. That is supposedly stock

The car was in park and I didn't disconnect anything. It was going from 19-35 almost 40 the gauge was moving iradically (spell check?) And wouldn't stop. Also what is WOT?

WOT is wide open throttle. If you disconnect the hose on your fuel pressure reg. and plug it with a screw or something then it will simulate your fuel pressure at wide open throttle. Does your gauge have another small hose coming off of it to bleed out air? Also check the connector on your gauge where it connects to your schrader valve. Make sure there are no leaks on your gauge. Did you check the pressure with the car running like you are supposed to?
