correct timing for hopped up 5.7 tpi

I have a 87 tpi with new edelbrock intake and runners. A comp cam 278 h, 1.6 comp roller rockers, edelbrock performer heads and shorty headers and bbl 52 mm tv. Where Abouts should I set base timing at?

Set the base timing at 6° BTDC and make the changes in your timing tables in the program. Regardless of where you set the base timing the tables will be off with different heads and a longer duration cam.

Thanks. So what's a guy got to do to square everything up? Get it tuned by a performance shop?

Bump base up to 8-12 degs until you can get to a shop an get it tuned, then set it back to 6 before the tune.

K cool. Could I expect it to run ok on 8-12 for a bit or should that pretty much be for the drive to the performance shop and that's it. I dono about you boys but up in Canada here there is only a couple good tune shops and the close one is 300 bucks and hour and they say it will take them 3-5 hours to tune it on the dyne. Big bucks hey
